We are still in the process of moving our reptiles to their new location and setting up their new permanent enclosures, so please bear with us as we transition them and work on getting good photos of them all.
For our western hognoses, we have habitats that were built especially for them, to provide the right amount of space, retain the right amount of humidity, and allow for proper UVB lighting. Our permanent habitats are BioActive - using Terra Sahara - with leaf litter, some synthetic and live plants, and ample amount of places to hide, dig, and even bask. (Don't let anyone tell you hognose don't bask: ours do often!)
While still juvenile and sub-adult, our young western hognoses stay in modified Sterilite tubs, with belly heat, on aspen bedding. This allows for an easier time feeding and cleaning and avoids the problems of providing them with so large of a space that they do not feel safe (as some have refused to feed in a habitat that was too large). Once again, photos coming soon.
